A small collective making apps about paying attention to things.
Folklore, sound, the water, and the sky, so far. The through line is that each one asks you to notice something you would otherwise walk past, and gives you a reason to go outside and look.
Everything here is built by a very small number of people. There is no roadmap and no funding, and things ship when they are good. One of them is already out and free.

iOS Sept 2026A field guide to real American cryptid folklore. Photograph where you are and the Institute develops the picture with something in it that was not there when you pressed the shutter. Forty legends, honestly sourced, including the ones that turn out to be documented hoaxes.

Web In betaA tone companion for guitarists. Describe a song and it works out the target tone, then translates it into knob-by-knob settings for the exact gear you already own.

Whale Watch PNW
iOSCetacean sightings in the Salish Sea, in real time. It watches the Acartia network and pushes an alert when orcas, humpbacks, greys, minke or porpoises are reported near you, filtered by the species you care about and how far you are willing to drive.

Aurora Signal
iOS SoonWhether the northern lights are worth going outside for tonight, where you actually are. It takes the planetary K-index from NOAA and weighs it against your cloud cover, your light pollution and the moon, then gives you one number instead of four dashboards. When the number is good it will point you at the darkest place you can reach in time.

The collective will shortly start taking on small app projects and ideas from other people, alongside non-profit work. Small in scope, made properly, and the kind of thing that would not otherwise get built.
